Valencia shows military appreciation for Veterans Day

On Thursday, Nov. 10th, Valencia East Campus decided to host a Veterans Appreciation Ceremony to honor veterans in the area.

Valencia’s band director, Jon Territo, opened the ceremony with music from the jazz band, along with songs from Valencia singers. Additionally, a few motivational speeches were given as veterans from different branches were asked to stand in recognition.

A 72 year-old United States Air Force veteran, Victor Ketchens, was there enjoying the event among many others who served for the country.

“I was in the U.S Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War,” said Ketchens.

While in the branch, he was a technical sergeant and a U.S. security police throughout his years of duty.

To top off the event, the Student Government Association provided everyone that attended with warm pizza pies on the side as people stayed afterwards to indulge in good conversation and each other’s company.
