On March 8th, the students of East Campus Pop Culture Club were involved in March Madness. Hosted by the Pop Culture Club, March Madness was an event showcasing games.

The members of he club brought in a variety of games and systems, as well as physical games such as UNO, Story Cubes, and Twister. The club gave the guests a lot of options to choose from.

“March Madness was motivated by a lot of the members in the group. Spring Break is coming up and the best way to start it off is by doing a little get together,” said Joshua Bucemi, the club’s president.

Popular games such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Skullgirls, Tekken 7, and Mario Kart 9 Deluxe got the most playtime. The students were also treated to a catered meal from Chick-fil-a. Not all those who attended are Valencia students, such as Wendy Santos.

“My sister invited me,” said Santos. “I don’t go to this college but I’ve been playing Smash Bros for years. I was like ‘I got to do it!”

The Super Smash Bros Ultimate tournament brought in the most competitive students, and nearly every match ended with excited shouts from both players and spectators.

Club member Dexter Rideaux, an Information Technology student, ended up winning. “I expected some decent challenge and boy, did I get it,” said Rideaux.T
