Orlando City draws with Richmond

Orlando City was held to a 0-0 draw against the visiting Richmond Kickers, in front of 7,899 fans Saturday night at the Florida Citrus Bowl.

The Lions returned home to face last week’s foe, Richmond Kickers, in which City earned a pivotal 2-0 victory.

“I was really disappointed with our first half performance,” said head coach Adrian Heath. “Probably as bad since I’ve been here, certainly since we’ve been here in Orlando.”

With the game being physical throughout the first half, coach Heath made four changes during halftime.

Miguel Gallardo was taken out during halftime when he suffered a concussion, however, he managed to notch four saves

“Hopefully it won’t be too bad,” said Heath. “We have Miguel to thank to still be in the game.”

“We started off slow, they were very physical,” said Miguel Gallardo after he was taken out on halftime. “I felt like I could of gone back out. You have to be really careful. If it’s up to me, I’d be out there, but my health is the most important thing.”

John Rooney could have opened up the scoring in the 62nd minute, with a clear shot from a Dennis Chinn pass, but the shot was stopped by Richmond keeper Ronnie Pascase.

Kevin Molino, who played the whole game had a couple crisp passes, but were stopped by Richmond’s back four.

Max Griffin, who led the team in scoring last season was not able to open his goal account for the season. “I’m still looking for the goal. It’s starting off slow, but once it comes, hopefully it will be a snowball affect from there.”

Orlando City(4-1-0) remain unbeaten and continue their run, when they host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds next week at the Florida Citrus Bowl.
