Knights brand continues to evolve

Every so often, a team will take the field in a throwback jersey, a new logo, or in rare occurrences, something never seen before. The UCF Knights did just that this past Saturday for homecoming. Clad in white and chrome helmets, they honored their campus in an insightful manner.

For the first time, the Knight logo was put on display on one side of the helmet. The opposite side donned the classic “UCF” lettering. The decals were outlined in a reflective chrome. This symbolically represents their campus, and clearly defines school spirit.

Annually, UCF holds its biggest tradition, the Spirit Splash. Thousands of students attend, and eventually rush the reflection pond.

“The guys loved the new helmets, it was a successful collaborative effort to represent our school and show the fans what spirit is all about,” said Student Assistant/Equipment Manager David Weeks.

Multiple helmets are currently being auctioned off on the UCF website, with funds being donated to the Football Excellence Fund. A number of the helmets are autographed by the program’s head coach, Scott Frost.

The team itself currently has 64 different uniform combinations, and doesn’t seem opposed to switching up the norm.

The Knights are scheduled to take on the UConn Huskies Saturday Oct. 22 at noon, in East Hartford, Conn.
