“I think it’s dumb. There’s a lot of people that have that quality and I think they should be able to do what they want. It’s their life, not his. I don’t think it does anything to the military. I think he’s over exaggerating and he’s very rude to those people. But I believe that it’s wrong and those people should be able to do what they’ve always wanted to do in their life.”

“I think it’s an uneducated decision and I think it’s unfair. It has certain discriminatory elements. I think there’s more questions to be asked and you would have to consider why the president is making these decisions to say that people who are transgender are a burden to society.”

“Wow that’s messed up, I thought that this was the land of the free?”

“It makes me feel uncomfortable. It seems like every step we take forward, we take ten steps back.”

“I definitely do feel a bit against it. I understand that he may be trying to look out of the best of the military, as it is. Trying to make sure that they have the best of the best out there because there are other countries looking at us at the moment. However, I do believe that if you do understand the consequences of enlisting you should be able to enlist whether you are male, female or transgender, whoever you are. So, I am seeing both sides of the coin. Honestly I can’t really say that I am against it. I can’t say that I am for it.”

“I feel like in general he is trying to take out sections of the community and decide which part of America he believes that are American. And I think it’s like very sad that we live in a country where we have a president who make his own citizens feel like they are not part of our community. Despite his beliefs, maybe it’s like his religious beliefs that cause him to think that way but he is the president and he has to separate his beliefs from how he serves his country. So I feel like it’s very disrespectful for those people.”

“I think that anyone should be able to join the military and I think that you shouldn’t ban a certain group of individuals because of their gender identity or because they made the decision to switch genders.Someone should be able to serve their country no matter their gender identity or sex. It shouldn’t matter in my opinion.”

“I’m going to be joining the military in a year and I kind of have an insight on this. I don’t really think it’s any of Trump’s business or anyone else’s. If you’re doing the job, I feel that’s all that really matters. You know service is service, just get the job done.”

“Really stupid and I felt angry to hear that. He said it would be a burden to the military because of costs, but this is America. They fight for us you know? I disagree with it completely but that wouldn’t be the first.”

“That’s messed up. Everyone should have an equal opportunity.”
