Justin Holman is expected to be the starting quarterback for UCF come the Fall.

UCF football’s 2015 season opener against FIU will be televised on CBS Sports Network and will kick off from Bright House Networks Stadium at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3 announced the American Athletic Conference on Wednesday.

The Knights lead the all-time series 2-1 against the Panthers with UCF defeating FIU 38-0 in their previous matchup back in 2013.

Justin Holman is expected to start the season under center for the Knights and he’s expected to improve on his numbers from a year ago after getting a full season to get familiar with the offense.

UCF’s season opener against FIU will also be a matchup of programs that have dropped the word “Golden” from their name, as both the Knights and the Panthers previously have used “Golden” in their nickname in years past.

UCF haven’t been referred to as the “Golden Knights” since 2007, while FIU haven’t been the “Golden Panthers” since the 2010.

The Black and Gold have won back-to-back AAC championships and will look for a three-peat in 2015, when the conference will debut a championship game to be played at the higher seeds home stadium.
