The Campus Activities Board (CAB), a division within Student Development, is bringing Mardi Gras to the mall area of Valencia East Campus Tuesday, February 28 from 2p.m. to 5p.m., in an event similar to Spirit Day.

The mall area will be adorned with street signs and party decorations to make it look like the streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Clubs will be out as well with Mardi Gras themed games set up at their booths. This will be a good opportunity for students to browse the clubs that Valencia offers and see whether any spark interest.

Those in attendance can expect stilt walkers, live jazz, and many other Mardi Gras themed attractions.

The goal of the event is “to bring the New Orleans environment here on Valencia East Campus,” explains CAB member, Tatiana Ramirez. “We try to achieve that through our food selection, we’re having Popeyes.”

Students attending Mardi Gras will get a taste of New Orleans with Popeyes and mocktails. The mocktail bar will have virgin Hurricanes, Shirley Temples and Blue Hawaiins so that students and staff can get a taste of New Orleans.

“There’s a lot of things, it’s going to be a big party,” exclaimed CAB member Tatiana Ramirez.

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) spent nearly three months planning the event that is sponsored by Student Development.

Valencia Jazz students are also expected to perform at the event. They will play two-twenty minute sets.
