Student Government Association Kicks Off First Meeting for Spring 2017

Taylor Lee, Contributing Writer

The Student Government Association held the first town hall meeting of the spring semester on Tuesday, January 24th at 1p.m in the Building 3 Atrium. East Campus students showed up to get an update from the board about all things Valencia. Free pizza was provided to students who attended the meeting.

President Joseph Torres began the meeting by discussing how the SGA board will travel to Tallahassee to represent college students and give feedback about different legislature bills that have recently been proposed. The bills he addressed were focused around college affordability as well as safety and security. The SGA is looking for student feedback to take with them to Tallahassee. Another meeting will be held to inform students. The date, time, and location has yet to be announced.

Another issue discussed at the meeting was SGA recruitment for leadership positions. If you are interested in an appointed or elected position for the 2017-2018 term, packets are available at the Student Development Office in building 5, room 212.
