UCF last hosted FIU on September 15, 2012 in a 33-20 Knights victory.

UCF’s football season will start two days earlier than expected as the university announced on Friday that the Knights season opening game against FIU has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 3 at Bright House Networks Stadium.

The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5 but both schools agree to move the matchup to Thursday. A kickoff time and television information have not been released yet.

FIU finished the 2014 season 4-8, while UCF went 9-4 on their way to their second consecutive conference championship.

With the season-opener moved to Thursday, that’ll give the Knights an extra two days to prepare for a West coast matchup against Sanford on September 12.

UCF is riding a seven-game winning streak in Thursday games going into the 2015 season and are one win shy of tying a school record with 11-straight wins at home.

The Knights are currently in the middle of Spring practice and will conclude workouts with the annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 18 at Bright House Networks Stadium.
